Zaku is
an exciting horizontal shooter for the Atari Lynx handheld game console. Full
of laughs, thrills, and challenge all at 60 frames per second, it's a Lynx
experience you won't soon forget.
Produced and distributed by Super
Fighter Team, Zaku officially released on October 24th 2009, one
month after the 20th anniversary of the Lynx's release in September
1989. It was the first new game released for the platform to feature
the high quality production values previously used only by Atari.

Story:
In A.D. 1987, development was beginning. A new program named
Rarity 9, promising boosted mathematical performance of the 65C02 CPU, was
showcased in beta form. The results were overwhelming, as they rivaled those
of current supercomputers! Who thought such immense power could be harnessed
from such elementary hardware?
"I don't believe it!", thought the maniacal Captain
Bran. "With this sort of mathematical terror, I could develop licensed
games at tenfold the speed of our current automated system. By the end of
this month, the world would be completely overrun with the glory of Bran
Systems' questionable quality software! People have seen market flooding
before, but never like this. They'd have no choice but to submit to my absolute
domination -- plus they'd have a big, cardboardy mess to clean up! Out of
the boxes would be born a new era of pain, suffering, and... cardboard!"
With that, Bran rolled onto his back and cackled insanely before
issuing the order that could seal the fate of the free world forever: "Penguin
Bros., get me that beta NOW! I shall conquer everything with the power of
Rarity 9! No one will be able to stop me!"
Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before the beta
disappeared and a deluge of Bran Systems licensed titles started to literally
flood the stores. If Bran wasn't stopped soon, the entire atmosphere would
be clogged with extra copies of Bran's games, and there would be no option
but to submit to his grim wishes. The world seemed doomed to rot in a pit
of unsold software, but in all his plump luxury, Bran had forgotten about
one person: Zaku.
Shaking her fists at one of Bran's camera droids, Zaku furiously
stated: "That beta was mine, Bran, and I'll get it back no matter what
the cost. You didn't even pay the licensing fee, and that definitely violates
the EULA! I thought I had some stupid reasons to save the world before,
but this takes the cake!" In response Bran taunted, "Hohoho, you
think you can scare me? This is no ordinary program. It's a Rarity 9; the
pure scarcity alone will repel you with its massive aura of fan message
boards and false 'wiki' articles! Come and get it if you dare!"
Will Zaku be able to recover the beta? Her mission is now in
your hands as you guide her through five beautiful worlds, each complete
with multiple layers of parallax scrolling and hordes of huge, angry, unhygienic
bosses. The whole experience screams by at a rock solid sixty frames per
second, a guarantee that you won't miss one drop of the action.
The Penguin Bros., Bran's SNNVN (smelly, nasty and not very
nice) dedicated attack force will be waiting for you at the end of each
mission, ready to take you down. Let's not forget Iremsha, seemingly Bran's
newest ally, who will be following you more directly. Bran or no Bran, she'll
still want to stop you dead in your tracks. But those aren't the only ones
blocking your path, for you'll soon meet up with some of the most bizarre
and demented creations in the world of side scrolling shooters, including
the infamous Business Fish and T-T-Troast, just to name a few.
Even after you've defeated the entire lot, you've still got
Bran himself. Getting back that beta won't be easy, but the world depends
on it! Plus, it's a Rarity 9! How would you ever be able to live with yourself
if it were to disappear from your hands forever?!
Are you up to it?
